Transport Minister Joe Maswanganyi released the preliminary festive season road safety report

on Monday, the 22 January 2018.

Maswanganyi said preliminary reports show that fatalities for the period starting 1 December

2017 to 9 January 2018 were 1 527 people, compared to 1 714 fatalities reported in the same

period the previous year.

He reported that all the efforts put in to promoting safe road usage have given an improved

picture during this festive season holiday.
