Randall is a registered Professional Engineer, and holds a BSc Civil Engineering degree, from
the University of Cape Town, and a Master in Engineering degree (Traffic and Transportation)
from Texas A&M University in the USA.
He is employed by the South African National Roads Agency Limited (SANRAL), as
Engineering Manager for Operations.
His main roles involve initiating and managing of a wide variety of projects, ranging from
infrastructure projects to Intelligent Transportation Systems deployments, including the Cape
Town Freeway Management System. He is also the National Road Safety Focus Group
Coordinator for SANRAL.
He is a member of various Road Safety Committees, including:
- The World Road Association (PIARC) Road Safety Technical Committees:
o TC 3.1 Road Safety Policies and Programs
o TF 1: Revision of the PIARC Road Safety Manual
- South African Road Federation Road Safety Committee
- Western Cape Pedestrian Safety Committee
- Chair of the Cape Town FMS Operations Committee.
He has dedicate his professional career to pursuing sustainable road safety solutions for
vulnerable road users.
