Etienne subsequently expanded his expertise across Southern Africa through his role with Central African Logistics, overseeing supply chain operations in Malawi, South Africa, Zambia, Mozambique and Zimbabwe. In 2006, he joined Afrox, part of the global Linde Group, where he ultimately assumed responsibility for the company’s national supply chain and cylinder production facilities.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, he played a critical role in ensuring the safe distribution of oxygen and medical gases to hospitals across South Africa. A passionate advocate for operational excellence and safety, Etienne has championed numerous preventative safety initiatives throughout his career. Under his leadership, safety improvement programmes and predictive performance indicators helped transform operations and significantly strengthen organisational safety cultures. In 2023, Etienne was approached by a private investment group to lead the restructuring and revitalisation of the iconic Greyhound Coach South Africa brand.
Over the past two years, he has successfully repositioned the business for sustainable growth, with a strong focus on customer experience, operational excellence and passenger safety. Etienne brings to RSPSA extensive expertise in public transport, supply chain management, safety leadership and business transformation, further strengthening the organisation’s commitment to creating safer roads and mobility systems for all South Africans. “Safety has played a part in every facet of my personal and work life.
From highly corporate safety programmes and initiatives to back-to-basics approaches in owner-led environments, the objective has always remained the same – protecting people and preventing harm.” – Etienne Badenhorst
